CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Progress has been made in the much-watched "First Tunnel for Rail in the Upper Reaches of the Yangtze River"! On May 6, the first day of work after the festival, personnel are at work on the construction site of the cross-river tunnel of Rail Transit Line 27, and the shield machine is operating normally, making every effort to guarantee the excavation of Rail Transit Line 27. At present, the left line of the cross-river tunnel is about 50 meters away from the riverside and it is expected to reach the riverside on May 10 and begin to officially cross the Yangtze River. It is expected that the cross-river tunnel will be fully completed by the end of September.

On October 30, 2023, the "Yujiang" shield machine for cross-river tunnel of Chongqing Rail Transit Line 27 was officially started. That means pressing the “fast-forward button” on the construction of cross-river rail tunnel in the most upstream of the Yangtze River and the first cross-river tunnel of Chongqing Rail Transit.

Section 8 of the civil works for Rail Transit Line 27 starts from Chongqing Station and ends at Nanping Station via Nanbin Road Station, and covers a total of 1 station and 2 zones and a line length of 5.38 kilometers. In this section, the 800-meter-long passage where the lower part crosses the Yangtze River is located at the zone between Chongqing Station and Nanbin Road Station and it is one of the controlled milestones of Rail Transit Line 27.
