CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Are you excited about an ultra-fast charging system that charges at a rate of one km per second? From January to April this year, 36,900 new charging piles were built in Chongqing, an increase of 24.89%, of which 179 are ultra-fast charging piles, said the Chongqing Municipal Economic Information Committee on May 7. The users of new energy vehicles can check the location of fast charging and ultra-fast charging piles on the app ‘Yu Yi Chong'.
Compared with fast charging, how fast is the ultra-fast charging system?
Ultra-fast charging refers to the high-power charging technology that provides electric vehicles with electricity via a single gun, with a power output of 480kW and above, said the Chongqing Municipal Economic Information Committee.
Typically, it takes around 10 hours to charge an electric vehicle. Even with fast-charging techniques, a full charge still takes a minimum of 30 minutes. Remarkably, ultra-fast charging enables an automobile to refuel at a rate of one kilometer per second of autonomy, significantly reducing charging times and promoting long-distance travel.
How to quickly find an ultra-fast charging station?
Chongqing has released the app ‘Yu Yi Chong’, on which the users of new energy vehicles can find the location of ultra-fast charging stations. Currently, there are 179 ultra-fast charging piles in Chongqing.
Besides, Chongqing will design a series of ultra-fast charging logos with distinctive characteristics so as to ensure the consistency of visual identification of ultra-fast charging stations and make them instantly recognizable in Chongqing.
How are ultra-fast charging stations distributed across Chongqing?
Not long ago, the Chongqing Convenient NEV Ultra-fast Charging Action Plan (2024- 2025) was issued in Chongqing, proposing that by the end of 2025, more than 2,000 ultra-fast charging stations and more than 4,000 ultra-fast charging piles will be built in Chongqing.
According to the Action Plan, by 2025, a dense layout of ultra-fast charging infrastructures will have occurred in downtown Chongqing, with 1,340 ultra-fast charging stations built; the new areas in downtown Chongqing and Wanzhou District will get a rational layout of ultra-fast charging infrastructures and get full ultra-fast charging coverage, with 430 ultra-fast charging stations established; Southeast Chongqing townships and Northeast Chongqing townships will achieve basic ultra-fast charging coverage, with 100 ultra-fast charging stations built; and the highway service areas will also achieve full coverage of ultra-fast charging infrastructures, with 170 ultra-fast charging stations built.
How to quickly develop an ultra-fast charging network?
Chongqing is actively implementing the pilot work of the full electrification of the national public sector, the construction and application of charging infrastructure in the demonstration counties, towns, and townships, and the pilot project of strengthening weaknesses concerning charging facilities in counties.
So far, Chongqing is home to 247,000 charging piles, of which 31,700 are public charging piles and 215,300 are personal charging piles, with an average vehicle-to-pile ratio of about 1.8:1, better than the national average of 2.5:1. (Translated by Yuki, Fathom Language Limited)
