JINAN, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) -- East China's Shandong province exported 15.37 billion U.S. dollars of farm produce in 2011, up 21 percent year-on-year, setting a new record for China's top farm export province, the provincial agriculture bureau reported Friday.
Shandong's main exports include aquatic products, vegetables, fruits, processed meat, and peanuts. The province's farm export accounts for roughly a quarter of China's total.
Japan, to the east of Shandong across the sea, remains the province's top farm export destination, followed by European Union, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries, South Korea, and the United States.
Shandong exported 4.24 billion U.S. dollars worth of farm produce to Japan last year, the provincial agriculture bureau data show.
