Railway to bring Chongqing, Changsha closer
CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The railway construction project of Qianjiang-Zhangjiajie-Changde Section will get approval soon, according to Chongqing Development and Reform Commission on March 5.
This section of Chongqing-Changsha Railway is predicted to start construction in 2013 and be completed during the “13th Five-Year Plan”.
Chongqing-Changsha Railway is divided into three sections: Chongqing-Qianjiang, Qianjiang-Zhangjiajie-Changde, and Changde-Changsha, according to the Commission.
The section from Chongqing to Qianjiang is likely to be incorporated into the national railway network plan in the future, though it is still under application procedure.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Railway has initiated the preliminary work for Changde-Changsha Section Project. Qianjiang-Zhangjiajie-Changde Section is planned to be an express railway for passengers and freight.
At present, the relevant feasible report has been submitted to the National Development and Reform Commission in China, and it is predicted to kick off construction in 2014 after obtaining approval in 2013.
It only takes 3 hours from Chongqing to Changsha by train after the completion of Chongqing-Changsha Railway, roughly 7 hours shorter than the travel on Chongqing-Huaihua Line.
This railway also forms Chengdu-Chongqing-Changsha-Guangzhou-Shenzhen and Chengdu-Chongqing-Changsha-Nanchang-Hangzhou-Shanghai fast track routes, so that Chongqing will have closer relationship with costal cities.
