Chongqing Natural History Museum to open in 2013

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Chongqing Natural History Museum has basically concluded the main body construction and it will simultaneously carry out the exterior scene and exhibition preparation work. The museum will be open to citizens for free before the end of 2013, according to Chongqing's Beibei District on March 21, 2013.

The new museum covers an area of 216 mu with 6 exhibition halls about earth, evolution, dinosaurs, biology, environment and Chongqing in it. Meanwhile, the exhibition content contain rare plants and animal specimens, ancient human fossils, dinosaur fossil and skeleton, and Paleolithic items on display etc. After operation, this museum will become the biggest one of natural history in China.

Kenneth E. Behring, Chairman of Global Health and Education Foundation, donated 237 weld animal specimens free of charge to Chongqing Natural History Museum among which nearly 200 specimens has been delivered to Chongqing and stored in the original museum, including several specimens of rare and endangered species, such as bongo, black roan antelope, crocuta, and red duiker.
