Foreign consular institutions bloom in Chongqing

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The number of foreign consular institutions in Chongqing ties with Chengdu ranking the third in China.

Chongqing plans to complete the friend-making work with five cities and states, Canton of Zurich of Switzerland, for example.

Eight countries, Great Britain, Japan, Canada, Cambodia, Denmark, Philippines, Hungary and Ethiopia, have set up consular institutions in Chongqing.

France and Germany have their cultural exchange institutions here and EU Chamber of Commerce has its representative office here.

Holland’s setting up consulate in Chongqing has entered the phase of getting examination and approval from the State Council, and the counterpart of Italy, has stepped into the phase of Ministry of Foreign Affairs seeking opinions. Both are expected to open officially at the end of 2013.
