CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The media tour, "Sensing China Through the New Silk Road-Culture Mission for Chongqing-Xinjiang-Europe International Railway", co-held by the Information Office of the State Council and Chongqing Municipal Government kicked off on July 30.

31 journalists from People's Daily, Xinhua News Agency, Chongqing Daily, CQTV, and CQNEWS among others set off from Tuanjiecun, the origin of Yuxin'ou Railway, in Chongqing via Xi'an, Lanzhou, Urumqi, the Alataw Pass, Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus, Poland, and arrived in Duisburg of Germany after 41 days’ travel..

This media tour is not only an important activity to introduce Chongqing's urban image to foreign countries, but also a rare chance to display "made-in-China" and "made-in-Chongqing" to countries along the railway.

Yuxin'ou International Railway, known as the third Eurasian Continental Bridge, has been operated for over 2 years. The combined train set off for its first whole journey on March 19, 2011, carrying electronic products produced by HP in Chongqing, departed from Tuanjiecun and arrived in Duisburg of Germany.

The 16-day railway route saves nearly 30 days compared to the water route, first to Shanghai by the Yangtze River and across the ocean to Europe.

Yuxin'ou Railway has played an important role in strengthening the cooperation between middle & west China and European and central Asian countries. Meanwhile, the railway has provided the west region with a basic platform to take part in the global competition, according to the Deputy Party Secretary of Urumchi in Xinjiang Province.

"There are at least 4 advantages for the countries and regions along the railway," the deputy party secretary was quoted. The first is to improve their international standing and market competition; the second is to boost the regional development and opening up; the third is to promote the economic development and boom in Europe and Asia; the fourth is to enhance the regional mutual complements in economy.

"We are looking forward to more and more trains of the Yuxin'ou Railway, which will not only strengthen the China-Kazakhstan economic relations, but also improve the living conditions of workers at the Duosituoke port," said the deputy general manager of Duosituoke Port in Kazakhstan.
