Chaotianmen, in the late Qing Dynasty

The Chaotianmen of late Qing Dynasty, a work of Chen Jingqi

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Chen Jingqi Exhibition held in China Three Gorges Museum on November 8th, 2013. More than 90 works were displayed; among of them more than 20 sketches of old Chongqing attracted many visitors.

Chen Jingqi, 67 years old, a member of The Chongqing Artist Association, participated in the drawing of Old Map of Chongqing Mother City, a map reappearing the historical outlook of old Chongqing at the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China.

The exhibition works are divided into Chinese ink painting and sketches covering figures, landscapes, flowers, birds and animals. More than 20 sketches, such as Overlook View of Huguang Guild, Chiang Kai-shek’s Residence during the Anti-Japanese War, A Street in Laitan Ancient Town, the Chaotianmen of Late Qing Dynasty are compelling.

What is more, pictures regarding ordinary people in the Period of The Republic of China, such as porters, water carriers and monkey-tricking man and the traditional folk custom in Old Chongqing, such as killing pigs for New Year celebrations, tea houses are displayed.

The exhibition will last to November 14th, 2013 and open to the public for free.
