CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- What exactly the 12 Bayu Scenic spots, and what kind of location changes have they been through? Chongqing Geographic Map Store published the “Map of 12 Bayu Sceneries”, including 3 editions of the historical terms.

The 12 Bayu Sceneries, representing Chongqing’s characteristics, are regarded as the city’s cultural calling card.

However, it is little-known that Chongqing has developed 3 editions of the 12 sceneries throughout history.

The first edition was published during the Year of Qianlong in The Qing Dynasty, and all of the 12 sceneries were located in Baxian-the current 9 main urban districts.

The second edition was the new 12 Bayu scenic spots selected in 1989, and the range extended to the 9 districts and 12 counties of the time.

Lastly the third edition came out in 2008, after the 10 year anniversary of Chongqing’s upgraded status as a municipality; it selected 12 natural scenic spots and 12 cultural spots in 40 districts and counties, as the city’s new calling card. (Translated by Chen Siyan, Fathom Language Limited)
