CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- New Zealand Culture & Arts Treasure Exhibition opened at Chongqing Three Gorges Museum.
Jointly sponsored by the Centre of International Cultural Exchange (CICE) of The Ministry of Culture, National Museum of New Zealand and Chongqing Three Gorges Museum, Maori jade made its debut in Chongqing.
Citizens can learn about the jade processing skills in different historical periods of New Zealand from the exhibited 216 pieces of Maori jade.
Maori, the native residents of New Zealand, are the descendent of Pacific voyagers from Asia, presently accounting for 15% of the country’s population. Jade is handed down from ancient times and is considered as the country’s national stone.
The free exhibition will last until March 2014. (Translated by Chen Siyan, Fathom Language Limited)
