JAKARTA, Nov. 18 (Xinhua)-- Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister Marty Natalegawa said Monday that Jakarta has recalled the country ' s ambassador in Canberra related to the latest wiretapping reports published by Australian media on private cell phones of Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, the first lady and several senior officials in 2009, adding that such a misdeed was an unfriendly act between two strategic partners.

"This tapping issue showed that Australian authority has strayed one by one the principles they have been upheld in promoting democracy, privacy and their bilateral ties with Indonesia,"Marty told a press conference held in his office to respond to the latest Australian media reports.

He pointed out that none of regulations implemented either in Indonesia or Australia that endorse wiretapping activities. He added that spying others through wiretapping activities was against the civil and political rights.

Besides recalling Indonesian ambassador in Canberra, Indonesia will also review its information sharing cooperation with Australia and replace it with reciprocity instrument, Marty said.

In the previous reports, Australia and the United States were reported to have been using their embassies in the capitals of 90 countries including in Jakarta to tap information for their intelligence purpose.
