A work of Kang Ning.

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) Sichuan embroidery (Shu Xiu), Suzhou embroidery (Su Xiu), Hunan embroidery (Xiang Xiu) and Guangdong embroidery (Yue Xiu) are the four major regional styles of Chinese embroidery enjoying equal popularity. Sichuan embroidery originates in Sichuan and Chongqing and is famous for its exquisite patterns, shiny and smooth surface and luminous color. Kang Ning is a master of Sichuan embroidery and also a representative of national non-material cultural heritage.

Invited by Chongqing Abstract Cultural Heritage Protection Centre, Kang Ning opened her studio there several years ago. She said that the most important thing is to find young people who are willing and have the ability to inherit this ancient skill.

She described how the highest level of Sichuan embroidery is to embroider embroidery with two different patterns on two sides. It requires two needles to operate at the same time. (Translated by Li Li, Fathom Language Limited)
