January 8., 2014 is the traditional Laba Festival, the eighth day of the twelfth lunar month. At the labour market in Nanjimen, people shared Laba porridge together.

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) On January 8., Luohan Temple and Huayan Temple in Chongqing handed out Laba porridge to people free of charge. The sweet porridge added to the festive atmosphere.

Temples in the main urban districts started to hand out porridge from 7:00 a.m. on that day. A pot with a diameter of 2m was carried out of the temple at about 1:00 in the morning to cook the porridge, and the cooking lasted until 12:00 noon, making nearly 30 pots of porridge. Approximately 8,000 people had a bowl of hot Laba porridge.
