CHONGQING (CQNEWS) The Spring Festival travel season of 2014 began on January 16., 2014. It is estimated that 52.76 million passengers will travel by railway, plane, highway and boat during this period, more than in 2013. The travel season lasts from January 16. to February 24., 2014, 40 days in total.

For highway transportation, Chongqing plans to run 21,126 passenger vehicles and increase the number of passenger buses, charted buses, touring coaches and emergency vehicles.

For civil aviation, Chongqing Airport will add 1,100 flights mainly to hot destinations, such as Guangzhou, Sanya, Xiamen, Zhuhai, Xishuangbanna, Kunming, Haikou, Shenzhen, Lanzhou, Bangkok and Phuket.

Chongqing is one of the main areas involved in the Spring Festival travel season. It is predicted that the peak period of railway transportation will last from January 3., 2014 of the Lunar Calendar (February 2, 2014 of the Solar Calendar) to the beginning of March, especially the days around January 6., 2014 and January 16., 2014 of the Lunar Calendar.
