The ‘world’s hottest chili pepper’ in the Youjun Chili Museum

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) People interested in chilies can visit the Youjun Chili Museum in Longshi Town, Hechuan District, Chongqing, where a lot of unusual chilies from all over the world are on exhibition. People can find out about different kinds of chilies, as well as their origin, cultivation, classification and use.

The Youjun Chili Museum occupies an area of over 2,000 square meters. It was built by using private capital and an investment of more than five million yuan was made for the first phase.

There are different sections in this museum, showing over 280 kinds of chilies, with different specifications, shapes and tastes from both China and other countries. The most famous chili there is Naga Jolokia from India. It is the treasure of this museum.

Naga Jolokia originates from Eastern India. So far, no one has ever eaten one whole Naga Jolokia. It was evaluated as the strongest chili in the world by Guinness in 2007 and was called the ‘world’s hottest chili pepper’.
