The city of Xi’an, Shaanxi province, has opened a Super Old Man (Chaolaotou) Silicon Museum with silicon statues and intelligent robots on display, xhdz.gov.cn has reported, noting that, on opening day, it attracted many visitors, who expressed astonishment at the sight, with comments such as, “They’re so lifelike” or “It’s so difficult to tell them from the real thing.”

The museum, founded by the Superman Sculpture Institute, has two rooms: one for famous people, such as Yao Ming and Li Yong, a famous Chinese host, and the other with six themed areas for sports stars, entertainers, Buddhist culture, Han and Tang dynasty culture, folk customs of Shaanxi, and dignitaries from China and abroad.

The head of the Sculpture Institute and the brain behind the museum, Zou Renti, explained that silicon produces a more realistic sculpture, one that is more genuine than the old traditional wax method and, that the institute’s robots use cutting-edge technology. For example, a Zou Renti robot took the 2013 best invention prize from Time, a magazine in the US.

Zou concluded by saying positively, “The Super Old Man will become as famous as the Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum and will be found in every part of the world.”
