BEIJING, July 16 (Xinhua) -- Mao Xiaobing, former party chief of northwest Chinese city of Xining, was expelled from the Communist Party of China (CPC) and dismissed from public office for graft probe, said the Party discipline inspection agency here Wednesday.

The investigation found that Mao took the advantage of his post to seek profits for others, demanded and took a huge amount of bribe and committed adultery, said a statement from the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) of the CPC.

Mao had seriously violated the CPC disciplines and was suspected of breaking the law, the statement said.

His case has been handed over to prosecutors, it added.

Mao, also a former member of the standing committee of CPC Qinghai provincial committee, had been under CCDI's investigation since late April.
