E-commerce representatives visited Xi’an’s International Trade and Logistics Park in Shaanxi province, on July 7, to discuss cooperation in cross border electronic trading.

The popularity of the zone among e-commerce enterprises is largely due to its Cross Border Electronic Trade Pilot Platform, which came into service on May 22, signaling that Xi’an has become the new start of the On-line Silk Road, in addition to the Inland and the Maritime Silk Roads.

"Without the Zone’s platforms for an open economy, I would still be a nobody. It is the zone that helped me realize my dream,” said Ren Xinglong, the president of New Channel International Logistics, the first company to utilize the electronic trade pilot.

The company was founded in 2009 when Ren had just graduated from university, and with the help of the zone’s management committee, its annual income has increased to 20 million yuan ($3.22 million) from 100,000 yuan, and gained the honor of Outstanding Private Enterprise of Xi’an city in 2013.

Ren also listed the zone’s advantages in developing electronic trading, including a networking industry, the bonded zone, and a batch of export-oriented service businesses.

To provide a better development environment, the zone also issued a series of preferential policies for the enterprises of the platforms, application and service of the cross border electronic trading, such as subsidies for storage, investment and operations, and support for transportation, human resources and clearance.

In addition, the zone has achieved a cooperation agreement with Shaanxi Post, Express and Logistics Company and has begun its pilot business. It also established a sorting center for e-commerce and started to attract investment.

To provide high-quality services for the enterprises and simplify working procedures, the zone will improve its preferential policies for the pilot platform, and enhance cooperation with the departments of customs, inspection and quarantine, national tax and local government.

Beside Ren’s company, the zone also attracted other famous enterprises, such as JD.com, which opened its northwestern operation center in March, and Alibaba, Gome, Dangdang.com, Huo Group and KXTX Logistics.
