Liuzhou’s corn production mechanization site meeting was held in Shibei village, Liubei district, on July 16. It was Liuzhou’s first time introducing a corn planter and forage harvester to promote agricultural structure adjustment.

The corn cultivation area in Liuzhou is 300,000 mu (20,000 hectares). Most of the normal corn is used as fodder, while sweet corn and waxy corn are sold as people’s food. To enhance productivity, Liuzhou will change its traditional manual labor method and adopt corn production mechanization in the whole city. A demonstration showed that fully mechanized production can plant 80 mu of corn for a harvest area of 12 to 15 mu, which is more than nine times the productivity of manual labor.
