A total of 1,073 Chinese citizens will provide voluntary services in the country's western areas, for a period ranging from 1 to 3 years, according to news released by the Chongqing Committee of the Communist Youth League of China.

The 1,073 volunteers were recruited from 12 domestic cities and provinces, including Chongqing. "It's my great honor to be one of these volunteers. I'd like to know more about the grassroots of our country's western areas," stated a Chongqing citizen.

Statistics showed Chongqing has accumulatively received 14,000 volunteers since the 'College Students' Voluntary Services in West China’ program was officially initiated in 2003. (CQNEWS) (Translated by Liu Kan)
