23rd July, Wulong announced its formal prosecution against Transformers: Age of Extinction at a press conference in Beijing.

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) On 23rd July, Wulong Scenic Group submitted a civil petition of appeal to Chongqing No.3 Intermediate People’s Court, prosecuting Paramount Pictures Corporation and m1905. The Wulong group requires Paramount Pictures Corporation to bear the liability for their breach of contract, including a compensation package, a plea the court has accepted.

According to the signed cooperation contract, the film producers made clear that both the script and film would be attached with name signs of ‘Wulong, China’. Based on the contract agreement, Wulong Karst Company made a successful bid to shoot part of the film in Wulong and paid the producers a sum of 4,800,000 yuan, however, found no sign of the label upon the film’s release.

With the recent court appeal, Wulong Scenic Group put forward four claims. Firstly, Paramount Pictures Corporation should take steps to amend their error by adding signs of ‘Wulong, China’ to prospective DVDs in addition to TV and online airing. Secondly, the producers should compensate the full 4,800,000 yuan paid by the plaintiff. Thirdly, the producers should bear Wulong’s direct economic losses in the form of a monetary sum in excess of 4,000,000 yuan due to the closure of the scenic sight for the film’s shooting. Fourthly, the producers should compensate Wulong for general profit losses at the sum of 12,000,000 yuan. (Translated by Li Jiali, Fathom Language Limited)
