Xi’an has made a plan to protectively explore the Zhuque Street ruins of the Tang Dynasty (AD 618-907), which was found by the Xi’an Cultural Heritage Protection and Archeology Research Institute in Beilin district in Xi’an city, Shaanxi province, Shaanxi.gov.cn reported.

The street, 110 meters in width and located between Zhuque Gate and Mingde Gate of the Tang imperial city, is the north-south axis of Changan, capital of the Tang Dynasty. The middle section of the street’s eastern part is rutted, and there is a drainage ditch 0.8 meters deep. Near the street, the archeologist also found Anren Fang, a commercial unit of the Tang Dynasty, whose west and north wall are 5 meters thick.

Archeological experts believed that the street and Anren Fang will be an important part of the Silk Road and therefore should be well protected. A protection scheme about construction scale and planning has been made, and the protection project will be carried out soon.
