CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- On 27th August, Chongqing's Chinese Academy of Science reported that it has successfully developed China's first facial-recognition mobile payment system, expected to be unveiled by the second half of next year.

Based on human facial-recognition, the payment platform first appeared abroad in 2013, but has not entered the Chinese market until now. Chongqing's Academy of Science undertook facial-recognition research last year and has now managed to overcome core technical difficulties after the year's work.

Researchers are now developing the system's app to be put into use in the second half of next year. By then, users will be able to install the app on mobile devices such as cell phones and tablets. The system will connect with the consumer's financial payment method while collecting the user’s facial features and using them as a password. Customers simply need to face the camera to complete the facial-recognition and payment. (Translated by Li Jiali, Fathom Language Limited)
