Bathing Festival marked in Tibet

 A woman has her hair washed by a river in Xigaze, southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, Sept. 12, 2014. Local Tibetans celebrated the annual Bathing Festival, which usually falls on the first ten days of July on Tibetan calendar, in their time-honored ways. Mass bathing starts when Venus rises to the sky and ends when the star sets. Legend goes that bathing at this period is beneficial to health. (Xinhua/Chogo) |
