Italian designer wins Chongqing Science and Technology Award

On 15th September, Carminati Stefano, Italian designer of the Chongqing Changan Automobile Company Limited wining the International Science and Technology Cooperation Prize at the 2014 Chongqing Science and Technology Award.

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- "It's an honor for me to be one of the two laureates of the International Science and Technology Cooperation Prize," said Carminati Stefano. As a world leading Italian auto designer, Stefano has been working in Chang'an for nine years. He, along with five others, helped to develop the Italy-based Chang’an office (the predecessor of the Europe-based Chang’an Design Center) before moving into a permanent research and development base in July of 2007.

In 2007, Stefano was appointed to lead the design of Alsvin, the first product of Chang'an to enter the A-level car market.

To deliver a world-class design, Stefano often commuted between China and Italy. Thanks to his efforts, Alsvin became the dark-horse entering the auto market, with a monthly sales volume once reaching 10,000 and accumulating a sales volume of 280,000 thus far, achieving revenues of 16.1 billion yuan and accounting for 29% of the A-level car market.

"Chongqing is a city of Chinese style. I love Jiefangbei the most, where I can have a look of the old Chongqing," said Stefano, "Every time I come to Chongqing, I will visit different places with a map by taxi and eat spicy noodles at local bistros.
