When the city of Lanzhou, capital of Gansu province, held its 2014 Gansu Intelligence Industry Summit Forum, on Sept 20, it drew in many experts and representatives of prominent companies, such as Hewlett-Packard Co and Schneider Electric.

Li Rongcan, Gansu’s vice-governor, addressed the gathering, giving everyone a warm welcome followed by a general introduction to the province’s economic and social development and how they planned to work together with companies to apply digital technology to every aspect of life.

Li explained that the province was generally behind the rest of the country in informatization, since its intelligence industry is still in the infant stage but that this means a golden opportunity for investment and working with various companies on digital transportation, big data, and other related fields.

He also encouraged more companies to look for opportunities in Gansu and help make it more competitive and join the intelligence revolution, adding that a bright future lies ahead if state-of-the-art information technology can be developed.

The organizer of the forum was the Gansu Commerce Department.
