OCT project to be launched in Chongqing

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The launching ceremony of Overseas China Town (OCT), a large-scale comprehensive culture and tourism project of Chongqing, was held at the New North Zone on 23rd September.

As an important investment project for the New North Zone, plans for the OCT have been in place since 2013. After a year of negotiation, the project has finally taken up residence in Lijia Commercial District of the New North Zone.

The OCT is a comprehensive culture and tourism project, within which the theme parks 'Chongqing Joy Valley' and the 'Maya Water Park' are set to attract the most attention. Total area of the project stretches to 53.36 hectares (800mu), with an investment of 2 billion yuan. Expected to be opened to the public by the first half of 2017, the 'Chongqing Joy Valley' and the 'Maya Water Park' are projected to receive more than 3,000,000 visitors each year.

Aside from the theme parks, the Chongqing-based OCT project will consist of an ecological education park, sports park, OCT riverside leisure belt, entertainment district, conference centre, athletics centre, ecological education centre and a cultural performance centre.
