CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- On 26th September, the Chongqing-based Foreign Consulate Generals Forum took place with representatives of ten Chongqing-based foreign Consulate Generals convening to share ideas on the promotion of bilateral development and deepening cooperation.

Currently, ten countries consisting of Canada, Japan, Denmark, Cambodia, the Philippines, Hungary, Ethiopia, Netherlands, and Italy have set up consulate generals in Chongqing. At the meeting, Consul General of the Chongqing-based Hungary Consulate, Hai Bo, reminded the delegation of Hungary’s diplomatic history with China. Although 2014 is the 65th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, it is also the 65th anniversary of Sino-Hungarian diplomatic relations. Hai Bo believes Chongqing currently lacks overseas promotion and suggests the city should set up more overseas offices to strengthen relations.

Deputy mayor Liu Qiang later expressed at the event that the development of Chongqing has been directly influenced by the support of the Chongqing-based consulate institutes. He stated that the local government will take on further research and more action in the establishment of international schools, hospitals, and Chongqing-based European industry parks to attract more international activity and hopefully win Chongqing more opportunities to enter the international stage.
