CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Baisha Town, located in Jiangjin District of Chongqing, is a national historical and cultural town boasting a rich history of 1,026 years. It has been known as Little Hong Kong, the Town of Abundance and the Cultural Center of Eastern Sichuan. It was also very significant during the Sino-Japanese War, retaining many relics of the conflict.

More than 60 movies and TV dramas including Sister Jiang, The City of Fog, Mother, mother, The Liberation of Southwest and Endless Love, were filmed in this town since 2006. On October 10th, 2011, the 'Old Chongqing Movie Studio' was inaugurated there, acting as Chongqing's first movie studio to specialize in traditional Chongqing and the Sino-Japanese War materials.

This year, Jiangjin District has invested six million yuan into the restoration of the Baisha Movie Studio. Recently, the Republic Street of Old Chongqing underwent renovation by repairing the street's main structures, including the Diaojiao House, Minsheng Shipping Co., Ltd., Shu Lin Teahouse, Guotai Grand Theatre, National Government building and Sihechun Szechuan Restaurant.

In spite of the renovation, the studio is still very much active and remains a favored place for movie and TV shooting on a national level. (Translated by Tan Tianqin, Fathom Language Limited)
