GUIYANG, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- Chinese police have busted an international drug trafficking ring in a raid in southwest China's Guizhou Province, local authorities announced on Monday.

The local police caught five suspects and confiscated more than 2,500 kg of drugs with the help of international colleagues, according to Guizhou's public security department.

In July, police in Guiyang, capital of Guizhou, intercepted a batch of illegal substances sent from the eastern Shandong Province to the southwestern Yunnan thanks to a tip-off. The substances were later found to be ephedrine hydrochloride of high purity.

Investigation in four Chinese provinces led to the discovery of a drug ring, which smuggled substances made in China to Myanmar, the department said.
