88 tourism feasts in Beijing for the National Day holiday

BEIJING, Sept. 29 (Xinhuanet) -- Beijing is the most beautiful in October, when Beijing also attracts the most domestic and foreign tourists. The city and its districts and counties have prepared 88 tourist activities, including 16 events put on by the Beijing International Tourism Festival.

The International Tourism Festival brings together foreign cultures

The annual Beijing International Tourism Festival is a platform for the exchange of culture and art between Beijing and other regions throughout China and the world. On October 1, several shows will be performed at the Yanqing World Grapes Exposition by groups from the United States, Brazil, Russia, New Zealand and other countries. Nearly 200 viewing points have been set up throughout the 3,000 acres of the grapes exposition area. Visitors can also enjoy 1,014 kinds of grapes from 36 countries of origin at the event.

On October 5, dance and art troupes from Italy, Russia, Thailand, India, Lithuania and Scotland will give exotic performances at the entrance square of the Great Wall at Juyongguan in Changping.

From October 1 to 3, the Asia-Pacific Customs Festival in Yanqi, Huairou will hold an event called “A Bite of International Travel.” Visitors can not only enjoy specialty foods from Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and other countries but also Thai dance, the Singapore lion dance, Indian dance and Thai Boxing. Visitors can also participate in interesting and interactive events like the Vietnamese bamboo dance.

The Great Wall Animation Festival and a garden with hidden dinosaurs

The world-renowned Great Wall will look as cute as a button from October 1 to 7. The Mutianyu Great Wall Animation Festival will open on October 1, when lively cartoon images and the funny elements of Chinese opera will take over the Great Wall and refashion it into a cartoon-style playground.

Meanwhile, the tropical botanical museum at the World Flower Grand Garden will be filled with dozens of lifelike dinosaurs, bringing tourists back to the mystery of the Jurassic era.

During the seven day National Day holiday, the Red Leaf Festival in Mentougou will also start. Viewing the mountains covered with red leaves is bound to leave people with a distinctive sense of the area’s atmosphere. The Red Leaf Festival at Mangshan National Forest Park in Changping will also be held during this time.

If you are a music fan, don’t miss the Earth Music Festival in Songzhuang, Tongzhou. More than 20 metal bands will give performances from October 1 to 3. Additionally, special events in World Park and food season in Yanshou will also be held.
