National Day holiday is always considered a golden time for Chinese to travel, but this year, the tourism business has changed from in the past, for example, in Gansu province, where many people decided to visit Japan and South Korea, while the number of those visiting Hong Kong dropped off, according to the Lanzhou Golden Holiday agency, which said that tickets to Japan and South Korea had all sold out before National Day.

In recent years, as airlines in Gansu opened routes from Lanzhou to Taipei, Seoul, Bangkok and Singapore, more people there have been encouraged to travel abroad, and two even newer ones -- Lanzhou-Urumqi-Dubai and Lanzhou- Urumqi-Tbilisi -- which opened at the end of September gave people even more options.

In addition, driving trips have become popular among the Chinese and, with highways having a toll-free policy during the holiday there is even more encouragement. Many families from Sichuan province, or Shaanxi or the Inner Mongolia region, which are close to Gansu, chose to visit the province, while the number of drivers from the city of Beijing, Tianjin and Guangdong also increased.

Other changes were seen in the many hot scenic spot that suddenly became less hot, as people from the Gansu Comfort International Travel Service explain, because some tourists who got stranded at hot scenic spots on previous holidays may discourage others. So, many people decided not to visit such famous spots Huangshan, in Anhui province, Wutaishan in Shanxi province and Emei Mountain in Sichuan province, or others who chose not to go out because of the heat or the number of visitors.
