CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The 'British Culture Week', a section of the 'Chongqing and the World – Culture Carnival 2014', is preparing for the week's highlight event. On 14th October, the British Consulate-general of Chongqing launched the promotion of British films in the Mountain City, including the first session of the GREAT Online Film Festival, China-UK Film Industry Salon, British Films on Campus, and British Shorts on Show.

Three British filmmakers, Carter Pilcher, the International CEO of short films, Baldwin Li, a famous filmmaker and an Oscar nominee, and Hemant Sharda, from the National Film and Television School, engaged in talks with public figures from Chongqing's own film industry as well as teachers and students from CU-Meishi Film Academy* on topics such as China-UK cooperation in film shooting, finance, micro films and education.

The first GREAT Online Film Festival will last until 12th December. During this period, the Culture Theatre of Chongqing Tiandi is to show some of the classics of British film; 36 feature films will be selected by the BFI (British Film Institute) and available to watch on letv.com. 20 micro films shot by Shorts TV, including some of the works nominated for or awarded international prizes, such as Stanley Pickle and The Man Who Married Himself, will also be available.

On 19th October, citizens will be able to watch two British shorts awarded international prizes at Chongqing Tiandi (15:00-16:45 and 19:30-21:15) free of charge. Tickets will be available at Chongqing Tiandi's inquiry desk, four tickets at most for each person.
