Lanzhou succeeds in developing culture industry

Lanzhou pavilion gained a great deal of attention during The 3rd International Culture Industry Summit, which was held in the city of Lanzhou, Gansu province from Oct 9-11. Both the unique robot host and folk exhibits drew in the audiences.

In the Lanzhou pavilion, twelve folk exhibits were on show, including Lanzhou painted pottery, stone from Yellow River, Lanzhou clay sculptures and paper-cuts. “All the exhibits aim to present Lanzhou as a city combining modern and traditional culture,” said Zhu Xiuhong, the vice director of Lanzhou City’s Administration of Culture, Radio, Film and TV.

In recent years, the Lanzhou government has put a great deal of effort into promoting the culture industry, intending to cultivate social culture. So far, more than 70 cultural programs have been started or are under construction, with investments of more than 100 billion yuan ($16bn), among which the key cultural industry programs include Lanzhou creative cultural industry park, the traditional street and cultural center.

Additionally, Lanzhou city has made great achievements in improving the quality of its cultural performances, which can be seen from the many excellent stage plays – for example, the dancing opera Dunhuang, My Dreamland was performed 1,000 times since 2000 and was listed in the national top 10 stage plays.
