CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- According to news on Thursday, from next year, Chongqing will implement a new policy on foreign teacher recruitment. Branches of language training centres have to apply for foreign teacher recruitment qualification themselves. These branches can only hire foreign teachers after being examined on their student history, training environment and so on.

Chongqing now has a total of 154 training centres qualified to hire foreign teachers and from next year, branch schools under the same training centres will be examined if they want to hire foreign teachers.

Last year, foreign experts working in Chongqing hit 10,000 for the first time, reaching 10,799, an increase of 17.2% over the previous year. Approximately half of these foreign experts were working in schools, most of which were engaged in language teaching.

Chongqing intends to set up workstations in talent-intensive countries and regions for specific training programmes. It is also trying to introduce more high-level foreign talent to Chongqing through international headhunting companies.
