Karamay city plans to build three vehicle emission test stations in 2014, according to the “Blue Sky” project schedule. So far, the first test station has been put into use. The other two will be finished by the end of this year.

The “Blue Sky” project was determined in the third session of the 13th National People’s Congress of Karamay city. It is mainly aimed at eliminating industrial pollution, including vehicle emissions, coal burning pollution and dust pollution, in three years.

In addition to vehicle emission test stations, four other pollution control projects will also be put into application by the end of 2014, which will sharply decrease emissions of sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides and dust.

All of the 1,181 restaurants in Karamay have installed fume-decontaminating devices.

Karamay’s environmental protection bureau strengthens dust pollution control in the Back Hill region and will carry out a cooperative project with Tacheng prefecture to deal with regional pollution problems.

A joint consultation mechanism of environmental and meteorological departments has been set up to build a quality control prediction model by the end of December 2014.
