The 13th Guangxi Ethnic Sports Meeting successfully ended in Qinzhou on the evening of Nov 3. Liuzhou’s delegation, with a total of 145 athletes participating in nine competitive events and one demonstration event, won nine first-place, 14 second-place and 13 third-place medals.

Fu Xiangdong, vice mayor of Liuzhou and also the head of Liuzhou’s sports delegation, attended the closing ceremony.

The competitive events that Liuzhou participated in were the Huapao Event (Chinese “American football”), Crossbow, Throwing Embroidered Ball, Shuttlecock, Dragon Boat Race, Stilt Racing, Board Shoes Racing, Ethnic Martial Arts and the Ethnic Bodybuilding Exercise. Liuzhou’s Huapao Team won in all four of the matches, and achieved 13 successive championships in the Guangxi Ethnic Sports Meeting.

Liuzhou’s Dragon Boat Team not only achieved the first champion in the Sports Meeting – Female 500-meter Straightway Racing, but also won both gold medals in the Mixed Group 500-meter Straightway Racing and the Female 250-meter Straightway Racing.

In the comprehensive match of the demonstration event, Liuzhou’s team won in the match with a score of 9.2, just 0.05 higher than the second winner – Guangxi College of Sports and Physical Education.
