CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- On 22nd November, the Exhibition of Selected Russian Oil Paintings opened to the public at the 501 Contemporary Art Museum in Huangjueping, Chongqing. The 100 oil paintings on display were collectively created by 22 Russian artists since the 1950s.

Russian oil paintings, deriving from the 18th century during the time of Peter the Great, occupy an important period in the world history of art. The exhibits, created during the years from 1942 to 2006, housed in the Repin Academy of Fine Arts and Surikov Moscow State Academic Art Institute, are mainly stills, portraits and human figures.

Since 2005, these oil paintings have been exhibited in various Chinese cities over 80 times with some now on display in Chongqing for the first time.

The exhibition will last until 11th December, while on 12th December an auction for all of the exhibits will take place. (Translated by Chen Siyan, Fathom Language Limited)
