2015-01-01 09:05:06

When the Hohhot Treasured Relics and the second Leather Carvings and Paintings Exhibition was unveiled in the Inner Mongolia autonomous region on Dec 31, more than 200 leather paintings and over 400 relics were displayed in the Hohhot Museum to showcase the Mongolian culture of the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368), grassland culture and Hohhot culture.

More than 90 percent of this exhibition's items made their debut to the public.

The Hohhot Museum, formerly known as the Inner Mongolia Museum, was established in 1957 in Hohhot. It is recognized as a landmark, as well as a witness of the historical development of this capital city. The evolution of Hohhot in every dynasty and its respective history and culture are presented to the museum’s visitors.

In addition, with more and more porcelain from the Liao (916-1125), Jin (1115-1234) and Yuan dynasties being excavated in Inner Mongolia, an exhibition hall specializing in porcelain has been set up in the museum, according to Wu Cheng, deputy head of the museum.
