CCTV (China Central Television) recently published its ranking of “China’s happiest cities in 2014” and Liuzhou was ranked No 16 as the only listed city in the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.

The data came from the GN China’s happy cities assessment indicator system. CCTV started to publish the system and the list in 2007 by uniting with the State Statistics Bureau and China Post Group Corporation. 2014 is the eighth year it has released the list. Liuzhou was also Guangxi’s only city in the list in 2013, ranking No 17.

The happiness index of a city refers to the senses of identity, belonging, security and satisfaction of local residents and the degree of praise and willingness of travel recognized by people in other areas. These cities have characteristics such as distinctive regional culture, comfortable and beautiful environment, good living quality, optimized ecological environment, a high degree of social civilization and security as well as a superior social welfare and guarantee level.
