Archeologists from the History Museum in the city of Xi’an, Shaanxi province, began restoration work on the murals of a tomb in the city’s southern suburbs, on Dec 30, which depict musical gatherings and landscapes and are helpful for the study of the arts and aesthetics of China in the Tang Dynasty (618-907).
The tomb, which contains the remains of the parents of Han Huang, a famous Tang artist, are also important for the study of life along China’s famous Silk Road at that time.
