CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- On the Valentine's Day 2015, the Chongqing Theatre of Sichuan Opera is to put on a love story 'The Story of Jade Hairpin'. On 22nd January, four fans of Sichuan Opera were invited to the dressing room of Sichuan Opera performers and to have a try of the complicated makeup process. Xuan Yifeng, an American studying in Chongqing University, tried to play the actor Pan Sheng in the story.

This opera scheduled on the Valentine's Day is intended to remind people to treasure the true love and the lover by your side. The theatre specially invited several common citizens to have an experience for themselves so that the opera could be better understood by spectators.

Xuan Yifeng, who is interested in Chinese Culture and has been living in Chongqing for two years, is currently majoring Sinology at the Liberal Arts College of Chongqing University.

After over two hours of makeup and dressing up, they came onto the stage and learned to act as Sichuan Opera performers under instruction of Wang Shenggang, a senior artist of Sichuan Opera. (Translated by Chen Siyan, Fathom Language Limited)
