LANZHOU, June 18 (Xinhua) -- A memorial museum of rescue and reconstruction work after a mudslide that killed over 1,500 people was opened in Zhouqu County, northwest China's Gansu Province on Thursday.

The mudslide in August, 2010, killed 1,557 people and did 13.3 billion yuan (2.14 billion U. S. dollars) of damage.

The museum shows the rescuing effort, post-disaster reconstruction work, and scientific knowledge about mudslide in forms such as videos, pictures, words and models.

County head of Zhouqu Shi Huaxiong said, the museum has recorded about 85,000 visits since it was partially opened to public in June 2013.

Shi said, the museum will commemorate the victims, spread knowledge of disaster prevention and reduction and praise relief workers.
