2015-06-30 08:47:45

The Australian Studies Center of Inner Mongolia Normal University (IMNU) was unveiled in the university’s Shengle campus on June 26.

This center is a platform for Sino-Australian talents and academic exchange, where foreign languages, education, history and politics will be researched, explained Wu Haiyan, head of the studies center.

Based on Australian literary and cultural studies, the center will highlight the contrastive studies of Australian indigenous people and Mongolian ethnic group. It will set up research resources on the cultures of both groups.

Sponsored by IMNU and the Foundation for Australian Studies in China, an independent non-profit foundation to support Australian studies centers across China, this center is working on the translation of a series of books on the customs, production methods and cultural history of Australian indigenous people.

Yun Guohong, president of IMNU was present on the center’s founding ceremony.

“INMU will keep supporting the center. Meanwhile, we hope it will have more new research results to promote Chinese-Australian cultural exchange and cooperation, based on its advantageous resources in research, professionals and technologies,” Yun said at the ceremony.
