Obama's traffic planning designer deals with Guanyinqiao's traffic jam

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- As a straight entrance the undergraduate-graduate student of Tsinghua University and a dual-degree master and PhD in civil engineering of Virginia Tech University, Zhang Yihua who is over 40 now once was responsible making the traffic strategic planning for President Obama's inauguration ceremony during his residence in the US. In 2009, Zhang who was quite successful in the US unexpectedly quitted his high-salaried and enviable job, returned to his hometown Chongqing, and settled down in Yubei.

Zhang from Chongqing's Zhongxian County was admitted by Tsinghua University as a straight entrance the undergraduate-graduate student majoring in civil engineering in 1991. After his graduation, he worked in a domestic company for two years. In 2001, he successfully applied for the master of civil engineering and the master of computer science of Virginia Tech University, a top university in the US. After becoming a dual-degree master of the university, he got the doctor's degree in civil engineering of the university at one fling.

After his graduation in 2005, Zhang had been working as a traffic planning engineer at HNTB Corporation. However, nothing could make him prouder than his leading the traffic strategic planning for US president Obama's inauguration ceremony.

As the project manager of the planning, Zhang leading over 10 engineers took nearly two months reassessing the status of traffic jams by using mesoscopic and microscopic simulation software, made traffic dispersion plans for emergencies, and encouraged citizens to travel by public transportation. In the end, on the day of the inauguration ceremony, the traffic in Virginia was in order.
