The comparison between the air bomb discovered and the mortar bomb discovered before

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- According to news recently released by Shapingba District Public Security Sub-bureau, on the afternoon of August 26th, workers in a construction site in the area of a former special steel plant discovered a big suspicious iron lump which looked very much like a bomb. Through preliminary inspection after arriving at the site, the police found that the "big iron lump" is not an ordinary bomb, but an air bomb used on a bomber.

According to the policemen doing the site disposal, this "big guy" is about 90cm in length and over 50kg in weight. Through preliminary inspection, although the bomb is rusty, it is almost intact, with only a little damage in the tail. After hearing the news, the explosive-handling expert of the sub-bureau arrived at the site and conducted a careful examination, finding that both the fuze and explosive cabin of the bomb are in good condition. Although the type of the bomb cannot be confirmed, its lethal radius is conservatively estimated to be about 30m, and it belongs to a remnant of war that is extremely dangerous. According to the speculation of the police, as the special steel plant was an ordnance factory during the Anti-Japanese War period, the bomb might have been left by the Japanese aggressors during the bombing of Chongqing. The reason why the bomb has been so well-preserved may be that the place the bomb landed was relatively soft, thus producing a buffer effect. As a result, the bomb didn't explode even if it had directly plunged deep underground.

According to an authority of the sub-bureau, state regulations require remnants of war like this to be destroyed without exception. They have reported the case to the related department of Chongqing Public Security Bureau and will destroy the bomb together with other remnants.
