Kunming played host to the China Smart City Innovation Forum on April 10 to promote the national Internet Plus strategy, an initiative that involves the integration of the Internet with traditional industries.

Participants conducted in-depth discussions under the topics of "Smart City" and "Smart Home". Li Lin, a smart city planning expert pointed out that the construction of a smart city should be based on big data to bring convenience in terms of housing, healthcare and education.

The forum was sponsored by the Kunming National Economic and Technological Development Zone, which is currently building a smart industrial park and is working on building a big data platform to help Kunming become a smart city in areas of urban management, industrial transformation and livelihood service.
