As the hunt for a new UN secretary-general heats up, a training seminar for Model United Nations (MUN) tutors from China and Australia was held at Guizhou University in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, on April 7 to 9.

MUN tutors from the United National Association of Australia, Northwestern Polytechnical University, Sichuan International Studies University, National University of Defense Technology, and the United National Association of China attended the training to study the mechanisms, rules and procedures of UN meetings.

"We hope to promote the MUN activities in Guizhou province through this training and exchange opportunity," said Lu Shumin, president of the United National Association of China, at the opening ceremony of the four-day-long training session.

MUN is an educational simulation of the United Nations in which students learn about international relations and diplomacy. It is aimed to help improve students' skills in researching, public speaking and debating, writing, critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership abilities.
