Teeth-chattering cold hasn’t dampened the spirits of fisherman in the northernmost reaches of Karamay, in China’s remote Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.
In fact, fishermen in the city’s Urho district have used the icy lakes to their advantage, by preparing fishing nets ahead of the winter season.
With most of Urho’s 10,000 mu (667 hectares) iced over, fisherman have begun cashing in their spoils of grass carp, pike and black fish.
