Xi’an included in the ‘happiest city’ list

Xi’an is among the top ten happiest cities in China, according to the results of a public survey released on Dec 1.

The annual survey, conducted by the Oriental Outlook magazine of Xinhua News Agency and the Blue Book of Cities in China compiled by China Association of Mayors, has been going for 10 years and more than 900 million people participated thus far.

This year’s survey was launched in June and focused on how satisfied residents were with improvements made in their respective cities. More than 11.28 million people took part in the questionnaires, sample surveys and big data collection.

Xi’an was included in the top ten list of happiest cities along with Hangzhou, Suzhou and Beijing.

Zhang Sutang, vice president of Xinhua, said that he hopes the survey will encourage cities to press ahead with sustainable development that is more innovative, coordinated, open and environmentally friendly.

The assessment system covers 50 aspects such as people’s income, life quality, working status and social security.
